Canon XL2 has 20mm MFD according to datasheets and manuals. You always have to Zoom in a little bit and this makes MFD a bit longer - letīs say to 60mm.

I would say 90% camcorders have MFD less than 75mm or more than 750mm(75cm). If camera has MFD more than 75mm but less than 200mm then You can order LensMount/OD: http://www.indie35.com/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,47/category_id,4/option,com_phpshop/Itemid,18/. Under LensMount/OD we produce custom camera mounts.(actually we do any possible machinery for optics under that product name). Just send us the specification of your custom product and we will make you price offer.

No, it is not. Flexibility is an advantage of Indie35. You can adjust almost all settings, including the distance to GGSS. The distance can be adjusted between 25mm- 75mm with standard CamMount.
